Luke 7:18-23

Messengers from John the Baptist
Luk 7:18 Then the disciples of John reported to him concerning all these things.
Luk 7:19 And John, calling two of his disciples to him, sent them to Jesus, saying, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?”
Luk 7:20 When the men had come to Him, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to You, saying, ‘Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?’ “
Luk 7:21 And that very hour He cured many of infirmities, afflictions, and evil spirits; and to many blind He gave sight.
Luk 7:22 Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them.
Luk 7:23 And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”
Isa 35:3 Strengthen the weak hands, And make firm the feeble knees.
Isa 35:4 Say to those who are fearful-hearted, “Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, With the recompense of God; He will come and save you.”
Isa 35:5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
Isa 35:6 Then the lame shall leap like a deer, And the tongue of the dumb sing. For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness, And streams in the desert.
Luk 7:24 When the messengers of John had departed, He began to speak to the multitudes concerning John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?
Luk 7:25 But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Indeed those who are gorgeously appareled and live in luxury are in kings’ courts.
Luk 7:26 But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet.
Luk 7:27 This is he of whom it is written: ‘BEHOLD, I SEND MY
MESSENGER BEFORE YOUR FACE, WHO WILL PREPARE YOUR WAY BEFORE YOU.’
Luk 7:28 For I say to you, among those born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”
Luk 7:29 And when all the people heard Him, even the tax collectors justified God, having been baptized with the baptism of John.
Luk 7:30 But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the will of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him.
Luk 7:31 And the Lord said, “To what then shall I liken the men of this generation, and what are they like?
Luk 7:32 They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another, saying: ‘We played the flute for you, And you did not dance; We mourned to you, And you did not weep.’
Luk 7:33 For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’
Luk 7:34 The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’
Luk 7:35 But wisdom is justified by all her children.”
The Value of Wisdom
Pro 2:1 My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you,
Pro 2:2 So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding;
Pro 2:3 Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding,
Pro 2:4 If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures;
Pro 2:5 Then you will understand the fear of the LORD, And find the knowledge of God.
Pro 2:6 For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;
Pro 2:7 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly;
Pro 2:8 He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints.
Pro 2:9 Then you will understand righteousness and justice, Equity and every good path.
Pro 2:10 When wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul,
Pro 2:11 Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you, Pro 2:12 To deliver you from the way of evil, From the man who speaks perverse things,
