June 28, 2026, Morning Service
Revival Starts Within
Bro. Duane Edmonson
TODAY IS SUNDAY JUNE THE 28TH 2026 THE YEAR OF OUR LORD.
I want you to know that this is a day unlike any other in the entirety of your life.
I came full-up with hope and expectation of the presence of God
As I’ve already said: I am persuaded that each and every one of us is here by design this morning
I am equally persuaded that for some there might have been a dozen reasons not to show-up this morning
-there may have been an unkind exchange with your spouse as you left
The house
-maybe you’re a little grumpy that you didn’t get your breakfast
-and how about that pokey driver that nearly provoked you to ugly gestures.
In spite of a multitude of excuses and justifications, each of us – the willing and the resistant (and maybe especially the resistant) need to recognize that being here is a resounding YES to Jesus in your coming.
I believe too that God, who delights in our yes, is here to just what we need.
Do you need ENCOURAGEMENT he may say: Be of good cheer for I have overcome the world
If God wants to CHALLENGE you He may say: 2Pe 1:5 In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge,
2Pe 1:6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness,
2Pe 1:7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.
2Pe 1:8 The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2Pe 1:9 But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.
2Pe 1:10 So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away.
Are you desperate for COMFORT He May say: Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
SURELY THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD IS IN THIS PLACE
DO YOU FEEL THE BRUSH OF ANGELS WINGS?
He is here to heal the broken-hearted and He brings:
ENCOURAGEMENT
CHALLENGE and
COMFORT
My speaking this morning not borne out of some hot pursuit of the pulpit, but because Pastor Greg presented me with the high honor of this opportunity. In a very real way he has entrusted me to rightly divide the word of truth in his absence.
I’m not here out of worthiness, but of a willingness to serve.
From the moment that Bro Greg made the invitation, I’ve thought of little else. This very moment has been top-of-mind and the seriousness, the responsibility and the honor of it has pressed heavily from every direction.
I have rightly tossed a hundred ideas and topics and have humbly endured the Lord saying “trust me, get out of the way, and, my favorite reminder: it’s not about you”.
I might reduce and concentrate the Lord’s hope for us today into a few poignant thoughts.
Can we be reminded too often that given to us is a living word. Will each of you lift-up your bibles. Held-up is God’s
Infallible word. It is a light unto our feet and an illumination to
Path.
That Jesus is the Lamb of God sacrificed for my redemption
That eternity awaits the redeemed
That this life is a gift that comes with a guarantee of tribulation,
difficulty and sorrows and the promise of a peace that passes
ALL understanding
And lastly: It’s critical to understand that we belong to one-an-
Other and that your attendance here this morning is by design.
There is no chance compliance this morning: you are here by
ordination.
But wait: there’s more.
I viewed the proceeding of a current United Methodist convention. I watched in near unbelief as participant after participant took the podium and introduced themselves by their preferred pronouns and proudly declared their sexual preference. It was a shameful and ungodly spectacle.
GOD HELP US !!!
It has though given me the thought that I should announce my own preferred pronouns that best describe how I’d like to be recognized by:
IAM THE WORST AND THE LEAST !!!
1st Tim 1:15 and 1st Cor 15:9
That great apostle, often referred to as: THE APOSTLE,
Who was born into wealth, education and position,
He who was declared in Acts ch 9 was to be God’s chosen instrument to proclaim His name to the gentiles
He who authored much of our NT
The same one who endured, beatings and imprisonment for the sake of the Gospel and counted it all JOY:
Is the very one who viewed himself as the worst and the least: he knew he failed to what he should and did those things he wished he hadn’t. Romans ch 7
And yet He pressed on toward the prize Phil ch 3
Scripture is full of great people doing great things.
In John 14:14 Jesus said that those who believe in him will do even greater works than HE did.
Greatness s not always in enormity or magnitude. Jesus is talking about a numerical greatness: the sheer amount of things done and people touched.
I remain the worst and the least, my life full of failure and un–doneness but greatness is attainable and greatness awaits.
Are you undone this morning? Are you left feeling disengaged and outside of God’s plan for your life?
Are you desperate for ENCOURAGEMENT
CHALLENGE
COMFORT
The alter is open. I believe with everything in me that God will meet you there Won’t you come as music plays. You are here by design today: don’t put off His call another day.
