September 19, 2021 Now Greg has been having us consider ourselves the 13 Apostle. And I can assure you if we will study the Word the way we should we will think we are that 13th Apostle. Let’s catch up to where we are at. Jesus is on the road ministering to the multitudes. Now this is said, (Mat 13:1) The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side. (Mat 13:2) And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. · You see how this is a miracle in itself, multitudes hearing Him, and He’s out in a boat. Now He begins with what Greg brought to us concerning the sower of seed, and He’s teaching them by speaking in parables. Webster describes a parable as; A figurative sentence or discourse, in which the principal subject is described by another subject resembling it in its properties and circumstances. The principal subject is thus kept out of view, and we are left to collect the intentions of the writer or speaker, by the resemblance of the secondary to the primary subject. · Now you have to read that two or three times to even get to understand what he is saying. Now Jesus tells us the reason He is doing this when He says, “(Mat 13:11) He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.” · Now that’s clear. Anyone here not able to understand that? Course not. He doesn’t want them to fully understand some things, because He is not there to set up an earthly kingdom at this time. · Here again shows how blest we are, and how much responsibility we have, because we know what these parables mean, they didn’t. And the reason we know is because He tells us. We will see this in just a moment. · It’s Scriptures like what Peter said, “All things that pertain to life, and Godliness have been given unto us.” They are in our Holy Bible, it is God’s will manifested to mankind. · Also, IJn. 2:27; (1Jn 2:27) But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. · Just like we are doing this morning. We pray and ask God to help us rightly divide the Word, and He will. He says if ask anything in His will we shall have it. I know it is His will that we all speak and teach the same thing. Paul says, “(1Co 1:10) Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. Now God is not going to tell you one thing and me another. God is not the author of confusion, but satan is. That’s okay if we don’t understand something the first time we read it. He will give you the understanding in time, His time. Keep and open mind, and run everything anyone tells you through the Bible. NOT COMMENTARIES. Now, let’s get to the parable. (Mat 13:24) Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: (Mat 13:25) But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. (Mat 13:26) But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. (Mat 13:27) So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? (Mat 13:28) He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? (Mat 13:29) But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. (Mat 13:30) Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. · Now that’s an interesting story. Something we all know about, maybe some a little bit more than others. But I’ve hoed many a weed out of the garden, and didn’t like it at all. I’m sure we might draw different conclusions to this, but we don’t have too. Jesus will explain it to us. · Now He goes on with two more short parables before giving the answer to first one. One is concerning a grain of mustard seed, in which I had not known what one looked like, nor ever cared until this parable. The second, that of leaven, and I didn’t know anything about leaven either, but I learned. But I’m not discussing these this morning. But we will mention the following. · (Mat 13:34) All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: (Mat 13:35) That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world. The Psalmist said this; “(Psa 78:2) I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:” There are other places in the old testament that says this. If you have e-sword, it is easy to find where it is said everywhere in the Bible. NOW NOTICE: · (Mat 13:36) Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field. (Mat 13:37) He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; (Mat 13:38) The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; (Mat 13:39) The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. (Mat 13:40) As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. (Mat 13:41) The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; (Mat 13:42) And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. (Mat 13:43) Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. This lines up with all the other teachings concerning the end of time, when Jesus comes back. IThess.4:13-18; and all of ICor.15. We all need to be drawing as close to God as we can. Read your Bible, attend fellowship, do good to others, and always stay ready for His return.
OUR PRAYER; Lord, thank you for Your grace, and mercy, help us to be ready for your return.
