March 13, 2016 Scripture location throughout the Bible. This morning, we are trusting God, to give the proper understanding of this message to all who hear it. Many Christians have never heard this, and they won’t as long as they stay in the mom and pop religion of denominationalism. We will see today the true church of Jesus Christ, and what it took to get it established. What we want to bring to light this morning is the importance of the blood. The Hebrew writer said, “without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins.” As we look to the Scriptures for the answer, we will begin at the beginning.
Gen. 4; The story of Cain, and Abel’s sacrifices. This became the sacrifice that God would expect from all His people. Blood.
Exo. 12; The story of the Passover Lamb’s blood.
We find in the book of Leviticus very concise instructions on the sacrifices that the children of Israel were to make to Jehovah God. God gave the instructions to Moses, and he gave them to the people. This was the covenant of law that God made with His chosen people Israel. These sacrifices were to last as long as this covenant lasted. However, history teaches us that when the Temple was destroyed, in AD 70, the Temple sacrifices ceased. This was 37 years after the D, B, R, of Jesus, and the start of Jesus’s church that He said He would build, which was started in AD. 33. Acts 2
Now let’s notice something,, there were two prophesies in the O. T. that pertain to this idea of a new covenant: 1. Moses said this one; The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; (Deu 18:15) Peter, in Acts 3, in a sermon, tells the people that this prophecy was pointing to Jesus. Stephen in Acts 7, the longest sermon in the Book of Acts, says the same thing, concerning this prophecy. This is referring to Jesus of Nazareth. 2. Then the second prophecy that is important to the church is found in Jeremiah; “Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:” Jer: 31:31) This is discussed, and explained thoroughly in the Heb. Letter.
So, we look for a Prophet like unto Moses, and a new covenant.
As we study our Scriptures it is very clear to anyone with an open mind, that this prophet is Jesus of Nazareth. · John the Baptist’s testimony, pointing to Jesus, John said, “the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world.” · God the Father, at Jesus’s baptism, “This is My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.” · God at the transfiguration; “this is My beloved Son, hear ye Him.” This Jesus of Nazareth said, “ I have not come to destroy the law, but to fulfill.” He fulfilled all the old testament types, and shadows of the old law, and has made all things new, as He has said. You will come to this conclusion if you take time to study the Word of God. SO THE PROPHET IS JESUS OF NAZARETH.
THE NEW COVENANT, IS WHAT HE TAUGHT, AND LEFT FOR HIS DISCIPLES TO TEACH HIS FOLLOWERS, IN HIS CHURCH, THAT HE SAID HE WOULD BUILD. In this new covenant, there is a continuance of the teaching concerning the blood. The Hebrew writer says, “without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins.” The Hebrew writer also teaches us that the blood Jesus shed on Calvary bought a new covenant for mankind. The Hebrew letter was written to show the Hebrew people, and all of us, how much better the new testament is than the old law. The teachings of Jesus, and His disciples, are what makes up this new covenant, and the blood Jesus shed on Calvary, satisfied the demand of God, for redemption by the blood.
The blood of the new covenant: Jesus said, “I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.” (Joh 6:51-53) This was a hard saying for the people, and many quit following Him. 1. Jesus institutes the communion service. CALVARY IS LOOMING IN HIS MIND. And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. (Mat 26:26-28) JESUS IS SAYING, “I AM, THE PASSOVER LAMB.” 2. Paul understood this perfectly as he explained it to the church at Corinth: I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say. The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? (1Co 10:15-16) AND AGAIN: For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. (1Co 11:23-26) Solomon said this in the book of Ecc. “And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh. (Ecc 12:12) Oh so true. There is good in the writing of books, but there is also danger, and confusion. The teaching concerning the blood is one of those topics, that in many cases, has been wrongly explained. You need not go any further than what is written in our Bible, for the correct understanding of the teaching concerning the blood. THE EARLY CHURCH HAD NOTHING BUT THESE WRITINGS, AND THIS WAS THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF THE BLOOD OF THE NEW COVENANT. Paul said, “there is a spiritual man, and there is a natural man.” The writings of the Bible are for spiritual men. Our communion service is for spiritual men, IT IS THE BODY, AND BLOOD OF CHRIST. Paul also said, that the natural man could not receive the things of God , for they are spiritually discerned. Don’t wrestle with this teaching, just accept it as it is, THE WORD OF GOD.
OUR FATHER WHICH ART IN HEAVEN, THANK YOU FOR THIS DAILY BREAD, AND MAY WE CONTINUE TO GROW IN THE GRACE AND KNOWLEDGE OF OUR SAVIOR. AMEN. |
