Prophecy Fulfilled

February 21, 2016
Evening Service

As we are heading into the Easter season where we will study the events of Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection, I want us to understand that this was all part of God’s perfect plan of salvation that was set into motion from the beginning of time.  Jesus knew from a very early age that His destiny would take Him to the cross.  He prophesied of this to His disciples numerous times.  Look at Matthew’s account of one of these times.

Mat 20:17-19 And going up to Jerusalem, Jesus took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said to them, (18) “Behold, we go up to Jerusalem. And the Son of Man shall be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes, and they shall condemn Him to death.  (19)  And they shall deliver Him to the nations to mock and to scourge and to crucify. And the third day He shall rise again.”

  • Jesus was well aware of the price He was about to pay for the sin of the world.
  • There are also many prophecies from the OT that were written several hundred years before Jesus was even born that are fulfilled during the Passion Week.  Tonight I want to set the table for our study by looking at some of those.

Rom 10:17 Then faith is of hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

Pierced in hands and feet
