October 5, 2014 Share testimony of baptism of a relative in Florida. He knew he was a sinner and felt unworthy to even begin a relationship with God. Mat 11:28 Come to Me all you who weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. · It is not “Come all you who are righteous and have it all together.” · The invitation is to “whoever.”
Romans 10:8-13 But what does it say? "The Word is near you, even in your mouth and in your heart"; that is, the Word of Faith which we proclaim; (9) Because if you confess the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. (10) For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses unto salvation. (11) For the Scripture says, "Everyone believing on Him shall not be put to shame." (12) For there is no difference both of Jew and of Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call on Him. (13) For everyone, "whoever shall call on the name of the Lord will be saved."
He knew there was a better road to travel, but he didn’t know how to get there.
Romans 10:14-17 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without preaching? (15) And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things!" · It is our job to share the gospel message with this world of people who are “weary and carry heavy burdens.” They are searching for exactly what we have to give them. A relationship with God that “makes all things new.” · God places us in situations to be His messenger and we need to be ready. · How do we do this?
Eph 4:1-2 I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beseech you that you walk worthy of the calling with which you are called, (2) with all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, forbearing one another in love, · Walk the walk. Live the life. Do your best. Build your faith. Give God control of your life and let His light (righteousness) reflect out to those in need. · Our life is indeed very often the only Bible anyone ever reads. · We can reach out to the unsaved world by strengthening our relationship with Him building our faith in Him. How do we do that? Romans 10 :17 Then faith is of hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.
2Ti 2:15 Study earnestly to present yourself approved to God, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth. · We need to be reading, studying and applying the Word of God. · You build a relationship with someone by spending time with them and getting to know them. · The more you learn about our God the more you will want to serve Him.
Hebrews 10:25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. · God has built His church for us to be a part of it. The Word is spoken from this pulpit three times a week. There is not a better way to show faithfulness to Him than being faithful to His church. · This is how God designed it. He wants His people to come together and be unified in there worship and to be exhorted in there walk with Him. · This is a place that not only do you receive blessings, but you are expected to also give them. We have all been given gifts and abilities that need to be used within the church to edify it (build it up). · We are all part of something far bigger and greater than ourselves. We are asked to give our “5 loaves and 2 fish” and let God multiply it.
Let us be renewed on this “Homecoming Day” to continue the work we have begun here and finish strong together with the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit; reaching out to our community, country and world one life at a time.
Lord please bless our effort to build Your kingdom by being the church You are pleased with. |
