Watch and pray:  In the discourse concerning the destruction of the temple Jesus warned of difficult times.

Mar 13:20-27 KJVR  And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.  (21)  And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not:  (22)  For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.  (23)  But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.  (24)  But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,  (25)  And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.  (26)  And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.  (27)  And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.

And in this discourse;  Mar 13:31-33 KJVR  Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.  (32)  But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.  (33)  Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

  • Eleven times is this time prophesied about in the O.T.

Zep 1:14  The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.  Zep 1:15  That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, Zep 1:16  A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.

  • Zep 1:17  And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.  Zep 1:18  Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD's wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.

·                     Luk 21:25  And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Luk 21:26  Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.  Luk 21:27  And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

  • We have seen in our Wednesday evening studies that God can and will do miraculous things for His people when they are walking in His will.  Time after time God, Who said, “I do not change”, destroyed nation after nation for an obedient people.

And on the other side of that coin we have seen where God has let nations conquer His people for their walking in disobedience, and sin.

I believe that God has given us a look at ourselves in the description of the church of Laodicea.

  • Rev 3:14-17 KJVR  And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;  (15)  I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.  (16)  So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth.  (17)  Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
  • Rev 3:19-22 KJVR  As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.  (20)  Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.  (21)  To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.  (22)  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

LORD JESUS, WE HEAR YOU KNOCKING, WE HEAR YOUR VOICE, AND OUR HEARTS ARE OPEN TO YOU. PLEASE CONTINUE TO ABIDE, AND GUIDE US WITH YOUR HOLY SPIRIT.  AMEN.
