July 26, 2009 Finishing Galatians
Review: 1. In this letter to the Galatians the Apostle Paul has attempted to show how that God has put in motion a new covenant, far superior to the old covenant. 2. How that He was the one who first delivered this revelation to them through the gospel of Jesus Christ. 3. In this letter Paul made it very clear;
I spoke last Sunday morning on verses 1-2 of chapter six, and Greg finished the chapter Sunday evening.
In verses one and two the encouragement was to be willing to help someone who had been overtaken in a fault, realizing that we also might be in that position one day, and need help ourselves.
There are a couple thoughts in the remainder of the chapter that I want to comment on, then we will be leaving Galatians behind for another 3 to 4 years. That’s about the cycle of our studies.
The first: DO
NOT BE WEARY IN WELL DOING.
Gal 6:6-10 Let him that is taught in the word
communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.
1Co 9:9 For
it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox
that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? 1Co 9:10 Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he
that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. 1Co 9:11 If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things? 1Co 9:12 If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we
rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest
we should hinder the gospel of Christ. 1Co 9:13 Do ye not know that
they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the
altar? 1Co 9:14 Even so hath the Lord ordained that they
which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.
Mat
10:5-10 These twelve Jesus sent forth,
and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: (6) But go rather to the lost
sheep of the house of Israel. (7) And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of
heaven is at hand. (8) Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the
dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. (9) Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, (10) Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor
yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.
Jesus expected these men to rely
entirely on the benevolence of the people that they ministered too.
And today, it’s a far cry from
what Jesus instructed His disciples to do.
HERE IS THE OTHER THOUGHT I THINK
IS SO PREVELANT TODAY:
(7) Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth,
that shall he also reap.
(8) For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap
corruption;
Now I want us to think just a
moment what Paul said in the beginning of this letter.
AND GOD THROUGH THE APOSTLE SAYS;
but he that soweth to the Spirit
shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. (9) And let us not be weary in
well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. (10) As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
It is getting unbelievable today just in our community of the people who are needing help. Our finances will not take care of all the people that come to us for help.
AS WE HAVE OPPORTUNITY:
It is extremely stressing to see these people hurting, and doing without when many of us have so much.
My prayer this morning is that we can feel the cry for a more dedicated walk with God through these scriptures. Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us
from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our
Father:
But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
LORD GOD ALMIGHTY DELIVER US FROM THIS PRESENT EVIL WORLD, AND CRUCIFY ME TO IT. |
