The Seed, Jesus Of Nazareth, The Christ [No audio recording] July 5, 2009 Galatians 3:15-29
Review: 1. The Apostle Paul is combating the false teachings of the Judizers, those teaching you had to keep the law of Moses in order to be saved. 2. The Galatian Christians, were being swayed by these people, to believe what they were teaching. LISTEN TO THE APOSTLE; Read vs 1-14.
Let’s begin with verse 15.
Gal 3:15-29 Brethren, I speak after the manner of men;
Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.
(16) Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not,
And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
(17)
And this I say, that the
covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four
hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the
promise of none effect.
(18)
For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to
Abraham by promise.
(19) Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of
transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. (20) Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is
one.
Rom 7:4-14 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body
of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto
God.
(5) For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the
law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. (6) But now we are delivered from the law, that
being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and
not in the oldness of the letter.
(7) What shall we say then? Is the
law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not
known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
(8) But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of
concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
(9) For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin
revived, and I died. (10) And the
commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death. (11) For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by
it slew me. (12) Wherefore the law is holy,
and the commandment holy, and just, and good. (13) Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin,
that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin
by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. (14) For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold
under sin.
Back to Galatians:
(21) Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid:
for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily
righteousness should have been by the law.
(22) But the Scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise
by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
(23) But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto
the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
(24) Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. (25) But after that faith
is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
(26) For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. (27) For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on
Christ. (28) There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free,
there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. (29) And if ye be Christ's, then are ye
Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
MAY GOD ADD HIS BLESSINGS ON HIS WORD. |
