January 18, 2009 Hebrews 3 Review:
Today we are ready for chapter three. Let’s begin.
Heb 3:1-19 Therefore, holy brothers, called to be partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest
of our profession, Christ Jesus, (2) who was faithful to Him who appointed Him,
as Moses also was faithful in all his house. (3) For He was counted
worthy of more glory than Moses, because he who has built the house has more
honor than the house. (4) For every house is built by someone, but He
who built all things is God.
(3) For He was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, because he
who has built the house has more honor than the house. (4) For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God.
(5) And Moses truly was faithful in all his house, as a
servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken
afterward.
(6) But Christ was faithful as a Son over his own house; whose
house we are, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm
to the end.
·
NOTICE: CHRIST A SON, THIS IS OUR PROFESSION; IF! We hold
fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end. IF!! We hold on, and do not neglect.
·
It
is statements like this that makes Pam say that each time she reads this letter
there a element of fear that comes over her. It should all of us.
(7) Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, PSA. 95:7-11 "Today if
you will hear His voice, (8) do not harden your hearts, as in the
provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness, (9) when your fathers tempted Me, proved Me, and saw My works forty
years. (10) Therefore I was grieved with that generation and said, They
always err in their heart, and they have not known My ways. (11) So I swore in My wrath, They shall not enter into My rest."
SECOND WARNING:
(12) Take heed, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of
unbelief, in departing from the living God.
1.
I
will read my Bible.
2.
I
will assemble with the saints.
3.
I
will pray.
4.
I
will do the good works that God would have me to do.
5.
I
will make every effort to draw closer to God each day of my life.
Put these things in a bowl, and mix it all up, and this is what comes out; “I will be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, and I know that my labor shall not be in vain.” Icor. 15:58. GOD ADDS TO MY LIST:
(13) But exhort one another daily, while it is called today, lest any
of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
(14) For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of
our confidence steadfast to the end,
(15) while it is said, "Today if you will hear His voice, harden
not your hearts, as in the provocation." (16) For some, when they had
heard, did provoke; however, not all who came out of Egypt by Moses. (17) But with whom was He grieved forty years? Was it not with those
who had sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness? (18) And to whom did He swear that they should not enter into His
rest, but to those who did not believe? (19) So we see that they could
not enter in because of unbelief.
THE
ADMONITION TO YOU AND I IS “TODAY IS THE DAY OF SALVATION, DO NOT PUT IT OFF.”
LET ME
ASSURE YOU, THAT UNLESS YOU ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR SAVIOR, YOU TOO WILL BE
LOST IN THE WILDERNESS, AND YOU WILL NOT ENTER INTO HIS GLORIOUS REST.
NOAH
PREACHED TO A LOST WORLD FOR A 120 YEARS, AND ONLY EIGHT PEOPLE HEEDED HIS
WARININGS, AND WERE SAVED. THE GOSPEL
MESSAGE HAS BEEN PREACHED FOR 2000 YEARS, AND THOUGH THERE HAVE BEEN MANY
SAVED, THERE WILL BE MANY LOST.
YOU HAVE
A CHOICE TO MAKE TODAY, WHICH WILL IT BE? ACCEPTANCE, OR REJECTION?
OUR
PRAYER:
GOD ALMIGHTY, I PRAY FOR A STIRRING OF YOUR HOLY SPIRIT IN OUR HEARTS AND LIVES, HELP US TO RECOGNIZE THE URGENCY OF THE HOUR. |
