August 10, 2008 Final notes on
Chapter 10.
The final comments in this mornings notes read like this;
·
ARE YOU SAVED THIS MORNING? SOMEONE MIGHT ASK, “SAVED FROM WHAT?” THE ANSWER IS CLEAR AND SIMPLE,
·
“THE WORLD, AND IT’S TURMOIL;
·
THE WRATH OF GOD THAT IS COMING ON THIS
WORLD OF UNGODLINESS;
·
AND POSSIBLY THE MOST IMPORTANT, YOU ARE
SAVED UNTO LIVING ETERNALLY ONE DAY WITH GOD, AND MISSING THE LAKE OF FIRE,
WHICH IS THE SECOND DEATH.
·
MANY CAN’T SEE IT, BUT THIS WORLD IS A
BURNING FIRE OUT OF CONTROL, CONSUMING, AND DESTROYING MANY LIVES TODAY.
·
“WHO HAS WARNED YOU TO FLEE FROM THE WRATH
THAT IS TO COME.” BY THE WAY, MANY OF
YOU WILL REMEMBER THAT THIS IS WHAT JOHN THE BAPTIST SAID WHEN HE SAW ALL THE PEOPLE
COMING TO HIS BAPTISM.
·
JESUS SAID, “Mat 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I
will give you rest. (29) Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for
I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. (30) For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
So let’s go back and
look at what we mean!
· THE QUESTION WAS, ARE YOU SAVED THIS MORNING? SOMEONE MIGHT ASK, “SAVED FROM WHAT?” · You must remember what the Apostle Paul said at the beginning of this letter; 1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. · The natural, or worldly man is not going to understand until he allows the Spirit of God to reveal it to him. The words of encouragement to him is to seek after God, and God will faithfully reveal the things of God to him. · Let’s begin with this statement from Jesus; Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Pretty conclusive. Webster defines damned like this; 1. Sentenced to everlasting punishment in
a future state; condemned. And of
course this is what Revelation describes as “your part in the lake of fire,
which is the second death.”
·
By the way the word saved in this context is
mentioned some 57 times in the N.T.
1.
But
not only are saved from the lake of fire; BUT THE WORLD AND IT’S TURMOIL.
·
Would anyone doubt, that has been delivered from the lust of the eyes, the lust of the
flesh, and the pride of life, that there is not turmoil, and destruction in
this world?
·
The peer pressure of keeping up with our
neighbors. The desire to want
things!!!!
·
The unholy, cheating, lying, fornication,
adultery, stealing, etc. all these
things are in and of the world. You
cannot have peace, and allow these things to rule in your life.
·
SO, CHRISTIAN, YOU SHOULD BE SAVED FROM THESE
THINGS. You should not be caught up in
any of these things that we mentioned. Serving Christ will lead you down another path, and that path is peace,
love, joy, etc.
2. Then there is the deliverance from THE WRATH OF GOD THAT IS COMING ON THIS
WORLD.
·
2Th 1:1-12 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timothy, unto the church of the Thessalonians in
God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: (2) Grace unto you, and peace,
from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. (3) We are bound to thank God
always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth
exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other
aboundeth; (4) So that we ourselves glory in you in the
churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations
that ye endure: (5) Which is a manifest token of the
righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God,
for which ye also suffer: (6) Seeing it is a righteous thing
with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; (7) And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be
revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, (8) In flaming fire taking
vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord
Jesus Christ: (9) Who shall be punished with everlasting
destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his
power; (10) When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be
admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed)
in that day. (11) Wherefore also we pray always for you, that
our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good
pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: (12) That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye
in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
·
But not only when Jesus comes back, but now, in
this life. Listen to the Apostle; Eph
5:1-7 Be ye therefore followers of God
as dear children: (2) And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved
us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a
sweetsmelling savor. (3) But fornication, and all uncleanness, or
covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; (4) Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not
convenient: but rather giving of thanks. (5) For this ye know, that no
whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any
inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. (6) Let no man deceive
you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon
the children of disobedience. (7) Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
·
Paul warns of messing with the worldly crowd in
most of his letters. And if we do the
things they do the wrath of God will be on us.
3. AND BECAUSE WE ARE SAVED FROM THE WORLD,
AND THE WRATH OF GOD, WE ARE SAVED UNTO
LIVING ETERNALLY WITH GOD, AND THE REDEEMED FOREVER.
·
Sam showed us last Wednesday this statement; Rev
5:9 And they sung a new song, saying,
Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast
slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and
tongue, and people, and nation; (10) And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign
on the earth. (11) And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many
angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of
them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; (12) Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive
power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and
blessing. (13) And every creature which is in heaven, and
on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are
in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb forever and ever.
·
Rev
21:22-27 And I saw no temple therein:
for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. (23) And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in
it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light
thereof. (24) And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light
of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honor into it. (25) And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be
no night there. (26) And they shall bring the glory and honor of
the nations into it. (27) And there shall in no wise enter into it any
thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life
DO
YOU FEEL DELIVERED FROM THE WORLD IN YOUR WALK WITH GOD, OR ARE YOU STILL
WRAPPED UP IN THE TURMOIL THAT IT PRODUCES?
IF
YOU HAVE OBEYED THE GOSPEL, WHICH IS TO REPENT, BE BAPTIZED, AND LIVING A
FAITHFULL LIFE, YOU WILL MISS THE WRATH OF GOD, NOW, AND WHEN HE RETURNS.
AND
YOU WILL LIVE ETERNALLY WITH GOD, AND HIS PEOPLE WHEN THE TIME COMES.
